True or false? Guess. Both sound realistic, or totally absurd. Just guess and see.
The Surprise.
“Surprise,” everyone shouted, as the giant balloon burst and Ms. Liang’s blindfold was removed, in perfect unison with the scream she let out when the balloon burst. “Happy birthday, Ms. Liang,” said Lissa, cheerfully. “This is for you”. Saying this, Lissa thrust the other giant balloon towards Ms. Liang’s hands, by this time already laden with presents. “Pop!” went the balloon, as Ms. Liang was still holding the needle she used to burst the first balloon. She let out another loud scream.
“How could anything so absurd happen”, I questioned while laughing. It was a good, no doubt slightly silly birthday surprise.
It’s Over.
It was the last day of the O level examinations for us. Finally, after such a long period of mugging, doing our papers in the hall, and bearing with the stupid, strict Chief Invigilator day after day, paper after paper, we were finally free. Freedom was an unbelievable reality. Ironically, this freedom was never to be celebrated in any way in the exam hall. The ever-strict Chief Invigilator instructed over the mic, that we were to remain seated and quiet till our row was dismissed. No talking or attempts to communicate were allowed. I mean, it was our last paper, so why couldn’t we? It was downright stupid. It felt just like the ending of any other paper, even though it was the last. No screaming, or shouting, and no celebrations. Nothing.

You know, i find both this stories equally possible to have happened. I would go with story 2 as the true one with much reluctance, but the discipline master being a party pooper sounds about right.

I guess the second one is true

Have to agree that both stories are equally believable. I would think that the second one is true.

i feel that story 2 is more believable. the 1st 1 just seems a tad made up to me. perhaps because of how Ms Liang can still hold the needle upright when her hands are laden with presents.

Story 1 is true…inference from details…and its individual unique experience. Story 2 seems very probable as well except that fact that anyone else could have come up with it also…

I think story 2 is true. but then again story one could happen. i’m kinda torn. i think story 2 is true.

I too had to look at other people’s votes before making my choice. But “derelictz” does point out an interesting concern about how Liang could hold the presents and the pin–at the perfect angle no less–simultaneously. I think number two, while a less interesting story, is the more likely true tale.
